Holy thursday bonding at Leslie's Restaurant, Tagaytay

Most of my friends were having their residency already and this holy week is the only time that we'll be able to meet each other.

We initially plan to visit Pangasinan and tour Alaminos and Ian's home as well but due to a lot of reasons (i.e. schedule conflicts, unable to buy bus tickets, etc.) we decided to spend the holy week in Tagaytay instead.

I have been to Tagaytay for a couple of times but I have never tried Leslie's or Josephine's. My friends then opted to dine on either restaurant.

Tagaytay was so populated today. Traffic was everywhere. Super hassle. Good thing Leslie's Restaurant can still accommodate customers even though they have a lot of patrons today.

Great veranda

Taal volcano

We ordered for a couple of spicy foods.

Laing con Hipon (Php 249)

The laing con hipon was ok. This one was not spicy but the shrimp was cooked well.

Seafoods Bicol Express (Php 399)

Karen also wanted to try the seafood bicol express. I find the dish cool as well since I often eat bicol express that is made of pork. Anyway, the seafood bicol express is superb. A must try dish. It was not so spicy and very flavorful. My new fave.

Bulalo Special (Php 999)
Of course, we will never miss Tagaytay's famous bulalo... Yum! Yum!

More than the food we also enjoyed the serenade of the restaurant's house singers and acoustic players. We also had a great time catching up while waiting for the traffic to subside.

Hay! You can never go wrong with great friends and great restaurant. Two thumbs up for Leslie's Restaurant.

Modern Pub: Locale Gastrobar City Golf Ortigas

Even though I reside in Cainta, I haven’t been to City Golf Ortigas neither dine at Locale Gastrobar. Since I have been reading reviews about the venue I decided to celebrate my birthday with 2 of my good friends and co-intern at Locale Gastrobar.

OVERVIEW:
This is located at City Golf Compound, Julia Vargas Avenue, Ortigas Center, Pasig. For commuters, from Megamall, ride an fx going to Angono FLOODWAY and drop at City Golf compound (right after Home Depot and in front of Valle Verde III gate). From Ayala, take an fx going to Antipolo or Tikling then tell the driver to drop you at the overpass of Julia Vargas Street (that is before Mom and Tina’s in C5, SM Hypermarket and Tiendesitas). Then ride another fx to Megamall then alight the fx at City Golf compound. For private vehicles, from Ayala take the C5 road and turn left at Julia Vargas street. You will find the compound at your right side. If you’re from Antipolo, take the road going to Tiendesitas then turn right at Julia Vargas street. Again, the compound is at the right. If you are from Megamall area, take the Julia Vargas Street. City Golf compound is just after home depot and in front of Valle Verde 3 gate. For those taking a private vehicle, this place has limited parking lot. You can also park in the home depot area.

Relaxed atmosphere, comfortable seats and elegant looking bar and restaurant describe this gastropub. You may mistakenly think that this place is for high end class men but this is actually a casual dining restaurant and they have price worthy food products.

SERVICE:
I arrived at the place quite early (or at least early for party time) so I do not have much competition with the servers and they have been very generous to entertain u for our requests.

FOODIES:
One of my friends have read reviews about the place and he want to try the Truffle Pizza however I wanted to try the 3 Cheese Pizza so we decided to order both. Aside from that we also ordered for the Angus Beef Meatballs and Truffle Fries as well.

Truffle Fries at Php 160
Double fried batonnets of idahoe potatoes
sprinkled with truffle oil
The Truffle Fries is ok. The truffle taste is not very distinct though.

Angus Basil Meatballs at Php 220
Basil stuffed Angus ground beef balls paired with
gremolata sauce and salsa
This one is sooo good (and very photogenic too) - very meaty and flavorful. Definitely a must try!!!

3 cheese pizza at Php 390
Mozzarella, gruyere, gorgonzola
Truffle Pizza at Php 370
Mozzarella, gruyere, truffle paste
These pizza were so delicious. Both pizzas are good complimentary with wines. The 3 cheese pizza was heavenly. I love cheese and I super love this pizza. On the other hand, truffle pizza worth all the praises it received in the internet.  It really taste very good plus it has a generous amount of truffles. Love both of this pizzas.

We had a great time eating their food - very delicious indeed. Plus, this is indeed a great place to bond with friends. I’ll definitely go back here, next time probably I’ll bring my parents with me.

Gourmet Italian dinner with a tight budget: Café Lidia

Café Lidia is a familiar spot for me for a friend invited me to dine with him on this place last 2010. Now we went to this café to celebrate my parent’s 26th wedding anniversary. The place was more spacious nowadays and they have a parking space already. Yey! (:

OVERVIEW:
This is located in #64 Calderon Street, Kalumpang, Marikina City. For commuters, you can ride any jeepney going to Marikina and it will pass thru the area. For those with private vehicle, at Ligaya turn to the street opposite the side where you see the Sandugo outlet and Jollibee (be sure to turn on the way heading to Marikina and not the one going to Pasig) then turn right at Calderon Street (beside Metrobank) go straight ahead and you will see Cafe Lidia on the right side of the street.

Elegance defines this café. It really looks like a fine dining restaurant however when you enter their place a lot of people middle class men were inside. Moreover, their interior design suits their foods. Very nice.

During my 2 visits in this place it is always jam-packed. This is definitely a hit for individuals near the area. Oh well, for the taste of their food coupled with its affordable price who would not love to dine in here.

SERVICE:
Fast, delicious and even though they have been featured in a lot of newspapers and/or tv shows their food are still very affordable.

FOODIES:
Buffalo Wings Php 170
Their buffalo wings were the best I have ever tried. It was so tasty. Very enticing for an appetizer. Trying this is highly resommended! (:

Calamari Fritti Php 290
(Crunchy coated squid wings with tartar sauce - Casa Lidia)
They give big serving of their calamari fritti but as for the taste it is like any other calamari.

Mixed Seafood Marinara Php 170
(in white wine and spicy marinara sauce - Cafe Lidia)
We also ordered a mixed seafood marinara. I have been craving for this since we went to Mama Chit’s and here it is. This is so delicious indeed.

Pizza Papa Php 230
(Bacon, Pepperoni, Ham, Beef - Cafe Lidia)
We also tried their all meat pizza- Pizza Papa. I liked the one that we ordered before. I think that’s House Special Pizza and Shrimp and Garlic Pizza. Must try!

For our main entrée, we ordered for chicken marsala, grilled pork belly and salisbury steak. Amongst the three I love chicken marsala but all were so tummy filling.
Salisbury Steak Php 255
(200G of ground beef stuffed with mozzarella cheese with mushroom sauce,
served with mashed potato and mixed vegetables - Cafe Lidia)

Grilled Pork Belly Php 210
(Served wtih Java rice and mixed vegetable - Cafe Lidia)

Chicken Marsala Php 250
(Chicken breast sauteed with mushroom, sundried tomato and marsala wine
served with mashed potato and mixed vegetable - Cafe Lidia)

We’re so full actually but we still pushed to order for a dessert- a sylvanna. Yey! So happy! This is my comfort food ever since and I am just lucky to have found one in this store.
Sylvanna Php 25

If you intend to enjoy gourmet food but you want it inexpensive. This is the place to be. Must try!

Bittersweet Symphony Verse 2: Organized Clutter

This is basically the same template as my version 1. I just edited few codes and add more icons and blog pets as well (see bottom of page). But then my scatterbrain still needs her notepad so I'm sticking with this. (:

Feel free to browse thru my musings/rants/escapades as I tour around my country (and hopefully beyond)... Enjoy! :)
