Holy thursday bonding at Leslie's Restaurant, Tagaytay

Most of my friends were having their residency already and this holy week is the only time that we'll be able to meet each other.

We initially plan to visit Pangasinan and tour Alaminos and Ian's home as well but due to a lot of reasons (i.e. schedule conflicts, unable to buy bus tickets, etc.) we decided to spend the holy week in Tagaytay instead.

I have been to Tagaytay for a couple of times but I have never tried Leslie's or Josephine's. My friends then opted to dine on either restaurant.

Tagaytay was so populated today. Traffic was everywhere. Super hassle. Good thing Leslie's Restaurant can still accommodate customers even though they have a lot of patrons today.

We ordered for a couple of spicy foods.

Laing con Hipon (Php 249)

The laing con hipon was ok. This one was not spicy but the shrimp was cooked well.

Seafoods Bicol Express (Php 399)

Karen also wanted to try the seafood bicol express. I find the dish cool as well since I often eat bicol express that is made of pork. Anyway, the seafood bicol express is superb. A must try dish. It was not so spicy and very flavorful. My new fave.

Bulalo Special (Php 999)

Of course, we will never miss Tagaytay's famous bulalo... Yum! Yum!

More than the food we also enjoyed the serenade of the restaurant's house singers and acoustic players. We also had a great time catching up while waiting for the traffic to subside.

A not so great experience after all: Mer-Ben Tapsilogan sa Tagaytay

So my mom and dad decided to visit Tagaytay once again and had lunch at the area. My dad was picking if we will eat at Mer-Ben or at Bulalo Point and since I haven’t tried eating at Mer-Ben we agreed to try eating at the restaurant.

OVERVIEW:
This is located in #52 Aguinaldo Highway, Crossing Mendez East, Tagaytay City. For commuters, this restaurant is found along the main highway and Tagaytay buses pass thru the front of this restaurant.

SERVICE:
They have attentive waitress but I was not aware if they serve fast because I was distracted with the beautiful scenery on the roof top of the restaurant (view of Mt. Taal).

FOODIES:

Extra Special Bulalo (Med) Php 380

Their bulalo (medium size) is good for 3 already. It was really tasty. I love it. (: They even gave us a lot of beef meat which make it sulit.

Kare-Kare Php 200

I don’t really like their kare-kare. It was bland tasting. My parents do not enjoy eating it either.

Sweet and Sour Lapu- Lapu (small) Php 200

I do not eat this fish so I never got to take a taste of it but my father said that it was badly cooked. He also said that he like that one in Dampa better.

Shrimp Tempura Php 350

Their tempura doesn’t look like a tempura at all. The serving is too few also.

If you come to pass by this restaurant I recommend for you to try their bulalo. Try their other dishes as well but probably not those that we have ordered.

Frank's Bulaluhan Tanay, Rizal

In spite of the heavy rainfall due to Maring’s habagat we still manage to go to Tanay, Rizal to visit Regina Rica. On the way to Regina Rica we had our lunch on a restaurant/carinderia along the road, Frank’s Bulaluhan.

OVERVIEW:

Frank’s Bulaluhan is situated in Barangay Sampaloc, Tanay, Rizal front of Pranjetto Hills Hotel and Resort. To get to the place take the Marcos Highway and run through the road towards the east passing Sta. Lucia Mall, and Masinag Market. Follow the road until you arrive in Tanay. It is along the left side of the highway before you reach the town proper of Barangay Sampaloc.

According to the owner this has been the famous stop over of motorcycle riders. The place was also featured in the mo2rista magazine earlier this year.

SERVICE:

The owner welcome us with his pets. Since it is raining hard during that time we are the only costumers and they have served us very well. Their household pets were friendly too. :)

FOODIES:

We had lunch in the area and we ordered for bulalo and pancit canton.

I failed to get the prices for the food but it was way cheaper than that found in the metro or in the city area. The bulalo was really superb. I like their bulalo better than that in Tagaytay actually.

The pancit canton was ok for me. I am not really a pancit canton fan and I somehow like it slightly dry. However, they do their pancit canton oily and saucy. But it unlike the other pancit canton they put a lot of vegetables and meat on it which makes it delightful.

My parents and I enjoyed our stay at Frank’s Bulaluhan. We enjoy the food as well as the stories told by the owner himself. It was indeed a pleasurable experience for me and I will surely come back to their place soon.
